Facing the wind! 🌬️ Did you know that a wind turbine has a so-called yaw system which makes sure the rotor is facing the wind? 🤔 And the yaw system has a couple of allies: a wind vane on top of the nacelle that constantly measures the wind direction and the turbine control system which is used to identify if the rotor is no longer perpendicular to the wind. 🙌 If it isn’t, the yaw gears are used to turn the direction of the nacelle – and the rotor – into the wind for optimal power generation.
